Library, Art & Archives at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew

One of the most important botanical reference sources in the world, the Library, Art & Archives contains more than half a million items, including books, botanical illustrations, photographs, letters and manuscripts, periodicals, biographies and maps. During the 150 years of the library´s history, material has been acquired by gift, purchase and exchange. Over 90 languages are represented, making the library a global resource for plant science, research and conservation.
The visit will be to the new reading room and the Wolfson Rare Books Room, where you will be able to see some of Library, Art & Archives 200,000+ botanical illustrations and some of the older, illustrated books.

UCL Library, the Flaxman Gallery and special collections

University College London, recently ranked fourth in the world by the Times Higher Education Supplement. The tour of the Library will include the beautiful Flaxman Gallery and other art on show in the public areas. We will dip into the Slade archives and see samples of material from the Little Magazines and Small Press collections. There will also be the opportunity to see to the current exhibition ´Looking Back at the Life Room ´, an installation by artist Naomi Salaman which looks back at an academic model of art education that centred on drawing the male model in classical poses.
London Library

The London Library is the world´s largest independent lending library. Located in St. James´s Square, close to Piccadilly Circus and Green Park, the library was founded in 1841 by Thomas Carlyle. The book collection ranges from the 16th Century with particular focus on the Humanities, and the recently remodelled and extended Art Room houses a substantial collection on the visual arts and architecture. The library subscribes to over 850 serial publications, including academic journals and the publications of a wide range of learned societies.

London Transport Museum and Library

The Library has a unique collection of over 12,000 books, journals and special collections covering the history of London and its public transport. The art, architecture and design of London´s transport systems over the years is as an important part of the collection as the history and engineering of the buses, trolleybuses, underground railways themselves.
